rate limit
A provider-side cap on requests and tokens per minute for a model API. Exceed any counter and the call fails with HTTP 429 and a retry-after header.
reasoning
The model writes intermediate steps before answering. They are tokens: often hidden, always billed, always occupying context.
reranker
A model that scores each candidate passage against the query together, used after a first-stage retriever to reorder its top hits before the LLM sees them.
